Five delightful things: August 2023

In no particular order: five especially relevant, delightful things for August 2023.

1: The Deep Sea. #sciencefactsandbadgraphics
Diving into useless facts is calming. Use 3 minutes of your day to dive into mostly-useless facts! An oft shared landing place when I am stressed, ‘The Deep Sea’ is a dive into scientific facts, specific to ocean depth. Adorable and terrifying in equal measure.

2: I Take Full Responsibility Book. #sanitycheckingdevice
When there is no responsibility taken. Lately I have been ruminating a lot on the idea of responsibility. What is mine? What is yours? Theirs? Does it matter? This book has been a helpful tool from my friend Scott. He gifted this to me over a greasy diner brunch when we joined me on the path to the unknown.

3: 🧽 Emojipedia. #everydaytechnologytools
Now trending; Love and Death. Shockingly applicable and entertaining to search. Features emoji histories, versions across platforms, and what’s trending.

Voyeuristic and oddly pensive. Step into visceral discomfort. Celebrate ugliness. @Subwaysessions drags us kicking and screaming into FASHUN, accessorized with nervous energy.

5: The Fraught Relationship Between Girlhood and Ballet shoes #diggingintodirtydancing
As #Barbiecore awakens the feminine side in all of us, I have been thinking about ballet. It defined what femininity looked like to me for years. Long, lithe, leggy, with pointy feet. Enter: pointe shoes; the representation of the perfect ballerina and an object that I have come to love and loathe in equal measure. This article tackles the pointy subject.
